Yes, iced coffee counts.

Breakfast has never been an afterthought in the Drummond house! Ree has made it for sleepy kids, hungry cowboys, holiday crowds, and anyone lucky enough to wander into the kitchen while the coffee is still hot. Sometimes that means a pan of something hearty and cheesy; sometimes it means pancakes with entirely too much butter. (Entirely too much butter is not really a thing, but you understand.)

“I’m a big fan of breakfast in bed,” Ree says. “The kids used to make it when they were little.” These days, the Drummond kids are grown, married, and busy with families of their own, so those breakfast trays may not appear quite as often. But should Mother’s Day, Ree’s birthday, or a random Sunday morning roll around while everyone is home, this list offers a very helpful place to begin!

These are 10 of The Pioneer Woman’s favorite breakfast ideas—all created and loved by Ree herself. There are grab-and-go options for mornings when everyone is headed in a different direction, breakfast casseroles that practically beg to be made for company, and plenty of sweet breakfast ideas for anyone who believes frosting is perfectly acceptable before noon. You’ll also find make-ahead breakfasts and a few hearty, cowboy-approved recipes fit for a morning on the ranch—or a very lazy morning on the couch. Both are worthy occasions.

Breakfast Burritos To Go

Ree makes ‘em when the cowboys need something hearty before heading out to work cattle. There’s “nothing fancy schmancy” about the eggs, sausage, potatoes, peppers, and cheese, she says—and that’s precisely why the Drummonds love them.

Iced coffee counts as breakfast, right? Ree likes hers “a little sweet, a little naughty,” with strong cold brew, half-and-half, and sweetened condensed milk—and she makes enough concentrate to keep it waiting in the fridge.

Ree spent years tinkering with this recipe, which feels like a very noble use of time. The final formula is everything she wants: “buttery, full of vanilla, incredibly soft, and perfectly fluffy,” with golden edges ready for butter and maple syrup.

Cheesy Breakfast Tacos

Ree has a “love affair with breakfast tacos,” and this version makes it easy to see why. The tortillas get toasted with cheese before the bacon, fluffy eggs, avocado, and salsa go in—a small extra step that delivers crisp edges and plenty of gooey cheese.
