10 Red, White, and Blue Desserts to Serve On Memorial Day
Have a sweet slice of Americana.

Memorial Day is almost here! It’s the unofficial start to summer, a long weekend that just begs for a backyard cookout or two. And because it is a federal holiday that honors fallen American soldiers, it feels particularly patriotic to have a few symbols of the United States included. That doesn’t mean just decorations, either. You can have a few red, white, and blue desserts to celebrate Memorial Day. It’s a sweet way to honor our country!
Plenty of these patriotic desserts can be used for other holidays, of course. The 4th of July comes to mind, but you don’t have to wait to make that classic flag cake. Or maybe you do want to hold off because of tradition. Then why not try Ree Drummond’s flag cake that uses sprinkles to decorate or make a rectangular flag pie as a twist instead? It’s up to you! You’ll find all of those options on this list, plus plenty more.
And there’s more than one way to incorporate those stars and stripes. You can use lots of fresh seasonal berries like blueberries, strawberries, cherries, and raspberries for natural color. Or you can add some food coloring to help you out. You can also do both, like the red, white, and blue berry dessert that uses Jell-O and berries, and have the best of both worlds. Whatever you decide, you’ll be serving up a slice of Americana, perfect to celebrate the good ol’ U.S. of A.
