If you’re looking for a holiday appetizer that’s as simple as it is impressive, this roasted grape and ricotta crostini is just the ticket! It’s the perfect mix of sweet, savory, creamy, and crisp—all in one beautiful bite. Juicy red grapes are roasted with red wine, olive oil, thyme, and a pinch of salt and pepper until they’re soft, jammy, and bursting with flavor. Piled on top of toasted baguette slices spread with rich, lemony ricotta, they make the kind of appetizer that looks fancy but couldn’t be easier to make.

I love serving these crostini with champagne punch for holiday parties or alongside espresso martinis for girls' night get-togethers—they’re elegant enough for entertaining but still casual enough to whip up on a weeknight. The warm grapes and creamy ricotta balance each other perfectly, while the lemon zest and flaky salt add that final pop of freshness. They’re also fun to customize: try adding a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness or a sprinkle of chopped pistachios for crunch.

Whether you’re hosting a festive gathering or just want to elevate your next cheese board, this roasted grape and ricotta crostini is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!

Can you make the roasted grapes ahead of time?

Yes! Roast the grapes up to a day in advance and store them in the fridge. Warm them slightly before assembling so they’re soft and flavorful again.

Can you use another cheese instead of ricotta?

Soft goat cheese, mascarpone, or whipped feta all work beautifully if you want to change up the flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups seedless red grapes
  • 2 Tbsp. red wine
  • 6 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 baguette, sliced 1/2 inch thick (about 24 slices)
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon
  • Flaky salt, for topping

Directions

    1. Step 1Preheat the oven to 400˚F. Toss the grapes with the red wine, thyme sprigs, kosher salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Roast until the grapes are beginning to burst and are wrinkled and juicy, about 25 minutes. Remove the thyme sprigs.
    2. Step 2Preheat the broiler. Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet, brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil and broil until toasted, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
    3. Step 3Spread the ricotta on the bread (about 1 tablespoon per slice). Top with the roasted grapes, lemon zest and flaky salt.
