A pomegranate martini is the perfect cocktail for any celebration. Jewel-toned and full of vibrant flavor, this drink brings a balance of tart and sweet that’s so refreshing. Serve it during the holidays, on a girl’s night, or anytime you want to feel a little extra festive!

This bright martini combines pomegranate juice, vodka, orange liqueur, and dry vermouth with just a touch of simple syrup. The result is a smooth, crisp, and perfectly balanced cocktail! Garnish with a few pomegranate seeds (also known as arils) and an orange twist for a finishing touch that turns each glass into a showstopper. Serve it chilled in a classic martini glass alongside some easy appetizers like shrimp cocktail, cheesy spinach puffs, cocktail meatballs, and smoked salmon dip and you'll be party-ready!

What alcohol is in a pomegranate martini?

The main alcohol in a pomegranate martini is vodka, a neutral spirit that lets the flavor of the pomegranate juice shine. Orange liqueur, such as triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier, adds the subtle taste of citrus zest. White dry vermouth adds a wine-like acidity, much like in a traditional martini.

Can you make a pomegranate martini without orange liqueur?

Yes! You can substitute the orange liqueur with orange juice, or omit it altogether for a less sweet drink.

Is pomegranate juice sweet?

One hundred percent pomegranate juice is slightly sweetened, but the overall taste of this cocktail is a perfect balance of sweet, citrusy, and tart. If you like a sweeter drink, add a little extra simple syrup to the mix.

What are other good pomegranate drinks?

This vodka-based martini is a perfect fruity sipper, but if you're a tequila fan, try a pomegranate margarita! Pomegranate wine sparklers are also refreshing, and great for a party. If you're looking for a drink the whole family can enjoy, try Christmas morning punch or mulled pomegranate-cherry juice for something on the cozier side.

Can you make pomegranate martinis ahead of time?

Definitely! Pomegranate martinis are the ideal party drink because they can be made in advance. Mix a batch of the cocktail (without ice) and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, add the mixture to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, cover, shake vigorously, and strain into chilled glasses.

What does a pomegranate martini taste like?

This cocktail is crisp, tart, and slightly sweet. The pomegranate adds bright, fruity flavor, while the vodka and orange liqueur create a smooth, citrusy balance that’s both refreshing and elegant.
