Ree Drummond and her family always treasure the Christmas season. And it's not about the presents, either. (Though one of Ree’s favorite things to do is pick out wacky and wonderful gifts for Ladd and the kids.)
“The winter months put me in this dreamy suspended state in which it seems like all my worries and cares get put on hold for a while,” she says. “It’s the best feeling in the world.”
To help celebrate those special moments, we're taking a look back at some of Ree's best holiday photos through the years. From childhood Nutcracker performances to fun times dancing with her (nearly grown 😫) kids, these will leave you feeling joyful and a little nostalgic.
Once you’re done taking a trip down Ree's memory lane, share some of your favorite Christmas stories in the comments!
It’s a Drummond family tradition to wear matching pajamas on Christmas, and this year even the dogs got in on the action. “The family that wears plaid pajamas together….stays together,” Ree captioned her Instagram in 2015. “Or something like that.”
This photo of Ree from her high school days is the definition of holiday fun. “THIRTY years ago, I was with my friends at the Snowball Dance,” she said in 2015. “Thirty. That’s 3-0. I’m gonna go listen to some Tears for Fears now.”
Years go by, but one thing stays the same: Ree and Ladd are too goofy to take a serious pic together. “It starts out promising. Then one of us pokes a rib. Then the other squeezes a waist. Then we start arm wrestling, and well….this is as good as our tree pajama pic is going to get this year," she said.
Another year, another personalized pajama party. “My children are no longer small,” Ree wrote on this boomerang from 2017. Now they’re all grown up and dancing on TikTok instead. 😂
Aww, look at Ladd and baby Henry in front of the tree! This photo was taken shortly after Christmas in 2018, the first time Ladd took the snuggly Basset hound to work with him. Ladd is also holding his one true love in the pic...Dr Pepper.
Hark, the herald angels dance sing! Ree’s friend Michele (a.k.a. Moosh) sent her this photo from their first-ever Nutcracker performance. “Moosh and I went on to dance various Nutcracker roles until we graduated, and we share lots of ballet memories and battle wounds,” she said.
Part of the magic of the holidays are the sweet moments you have with siblings. Ree captured a particularly memorable one between Bryce, Alex, and Paige last year. “Bryce put his arms around his sisters and gave them a hug during church this morning. He’s glad to have them home,” she said.
Ree had fun with the pajamas in 2018. Captain America, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batman visited the ranch—as did Mrs. Incredible and Spiderman. But they didn’t make an appearance because Santa didn’t bring a selfie stick that year. 😂
Ree commemorated Alex’s first year at Texas A&M with a special ornament. She couldn’t believe someone she gave birth to was in college back then—and now she’s about to watch her third child head off to school!
