I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend, friends! Ladd and I had everyone on the ranch this year (and then some!) and I can't stop smiling today from all the memories (and all the leftovers.) Daughters, sons, sons-in-law, friends, cousins, siblings, granddogs...and one pretty cute granddaughter all rolled in for the weekend and I almost couldn't get out of bed this morning from the happy exhaustion. I wanted to share some of our family photo album with you, from Sofia to George and everything in between.

Ladd and Sofia

Last time Sofia came to visit the ranch, she had a bad cold and wasn't too interested in spending much time with Pa-Pa, aka Ladd, aka the husband of my youth. This time was another story---she had a lot of fun with him, and it definitely had nothing to do with the fact that he was sneaking her pieces of candy as he was stuffing Easter eggs for our church. (But it didn't hurt.)

An Easter Outfit a Day Keeps the Frowns Away

On Good Friday, once everyone was in town, a few of the kids loaded up to go have breakfast at The Merc, which gave Sofia a reason to wear Easter Outfit #1! Here they were getting ready to head out the door.

Sofia at The Merc!

What a big girl! From all accounts, Sofia sampled chicken strips, Merc biscuits, and bites of pretty much what the whole gang ordered. They shopped around the store and Sofia had a grand ol' time!

High Five with Uncle Bryce

Bryce was working that day, but took time to come eat with his sibs and brothers-in-law (and niece!) She likes her uncle and that big hat he's always wearing. She stares at it a lot.

Stuffing Easter Eggs for Church

A tradition for our family on Easter weekend is stuffing millions (not really) of eggs for the little kids' Easter egg hunt at church. It's always been a Ladd-and-the-kids task since I'm usually getting food ready for the next day, but this year the kids took the reins and knocked them all out before their sibling poker game (another tradition!) At least they do the Easter eggs first...

Setting the Table

Paige started setting the table on Saturday evening, just as the western sun was filtering into the dining area. So glad she snapped these photos! I ordered the flowers from a flower shop in my hometown and my gosh...possibly the prettiest I've ever seen in my life.

Time Flies

This time last year, we were gearing up for Paige's wedding in May. It's hard to believe it's already been almost a year. Last year we were planning the flowers for her wedding, this year the flowers decisions were a little more relaxed! 😂

Children's Time!

Usually I have anywhere from 1 to 5 children at my Sunday children's sermons...but we had a big turnout this year! I think we had about 13 or 14 kids, and it was as chaotic as it could be, but fun nonetheless. The fact that I started doing Children's Time at this church when Todd was a baby and now my granddaughter comes up to join us...well, it's a little surreal! Especially considering I hardly ever know what I'm going to talk about until ten minutes before I leave my house for church.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Per tradition, my kids leave church right after communion and go "hide" the eggs for the little kids...and that pretty much consists of sprinkling them all over the lawn of our church so they're easy to spot. Last year Sofa was tiny and unaware of Easter eggs. What a difference a year makes!

Pookie Sunshine!

We've had Easters here in north central Oklahoma that have been sunny, warm, icy, cold, snowy, rainy, and sweltering. Yesterday was pretty much perfect, and so was Sofia, by the way. She's my pookie sunshine and I love her so much.

Murphy and His Parents!

This year it was great to have a new granddog on the scene. Murphy fits right in with all the ranch chaos and sights (and smells.) He jumped in the pond right before this pic because...well, because Lab. He's a cutie! (So are his parents.)

Fred and Rusty and Their Family

I would like everyone to know that we do not call our dogs over to our family pics. They insert themselves. At least they're pointing the right way and not mooning the camera this time. Also, I would like to remind everyone that I am 5'9". I'll just let that sit for a minute. I think Bryce and Todd were standing slightly uphill; they aren't actually 7 feet tall. (Sofia was napping BTW!)

Everyone Needs a Son-In-Law

And I have two of the best. When it was time to serve lunch, I asked Mauricio to spend thirty seconds educating himself via Google on the best way to carve a hand shank. 31 seconds later, he was donning gloves and showing that ham who was boss. David, meanwhile, was carrying hot pans of food from the guest house oven since mine was full. Best sons-in-law ever!

Lunch is Served!

Another Easter tradition we have (unofficially) is that immediately after communion on Easter, I dart back home and get back to cooking in hopes that we will be able to eat before 1:00 pm, because any later than that and various members of my family will start eating bowls of cereal. Our menu was pretty much the same as my new Easter show I made this year, except we did mashed potatoes instead of scalloped, and I threw in a beef tenderloin to go alongside the ham. It's a cattle ranching thing.

The Reason for the Season

Okay, our grown kid Easter egg hunt is not the true purpose of Easter. But it is one of the traditions everyone looks forward to, from the matching shirts, to staying in the garage while the men are hiding the eggs, to crab crawling under the garage door as it opens, to running around like little kids to see who can find the most eggs...it is so much fun every year.

Sofia was Confused

I'm sure she was thinking something along the lines of "Why are my mommy and daddy rolling on the ground and yelling and throwing things into bags?" My sister was there to bounce her and answer all her questions this year. 😂
