The Marlboro Man Sandwich
Will Dickey
Ree named this sandwich after her husband, so you know it’s a good one! A big, buttery roll is piled high with sizzling steak and caramelized onions. While Ladd is a purist, Ree likes to top hers with a slice of mozzarella.
This creamy, crunchy wrap is on repeat in Ree’s house. Juicy chicken, crisp lettuce, and salty parmesan cheese are tossed in a creamy, garlicky dressing that you’ll want to lick by the spoonful (no judgement!).
When Ree’s pressed for time, a tuna melt is her go-to quick lunch. It takes 20 minutes! The filling features tuna, pickles, bell peppers, onions, jalapeños, and hard-boiled eggs, and it’s finished off with melted cheese.
The magic of this sandwich lies in the sauce. Ree prefers plopping the meaty filling in between a grilled bun, and she says finishing it off with cheese is “a game changer.”
You can make Ree’s breakfast sandwich at The Merc from your own kitchen! Melted cheese, juicy tomatoes, salty prosciutto, a runny egg, and peppery arugula are piled onto a toasted English muffin. A side of roasted potatoes is a must!
Ree made chicken salad the same way for years when she found this new version! It’s bursting with earthy flavor, thanks to the curry powder. The fix-ins strike the perfect balance between chewy and crunchy, sweet and salty, and pair perfectly with a buttery croissant!
There’s nothing like a warm, gooey panini! This vegetarian panini is one of Ree’s favorites. The star ingredient? “Pesto is everything—I’m not exaggerating, either,” Ree says. “I truly believe it makes life worth living!”
Patty melts are “absolutely, positively to die for,” according to Ree. Tender ground beef, melty cheese, caramelized onions, buttery rye bread—what more could you ask for? All it needs is a side of potato chips!
This sandwich is a spin on the classic Ree used to order growing up. It has all the wholesome fillings and sweet nostalgia of the original—yet there’s a twist: Ree stirs pesto into the mayo. “It packs a punch of flavor!” she says.
Out of all the sandwiches on this list, Ree’s all-time favorite is what she calls “a glorified grilled cheese.” In addition to two different types of melted cheese, each bite has red onions, tomatoes, and green chilies.
