12 Creamy Fruit Pies That Put a Dreamy Twist on Dessert

They’re the best of both worlds.

When it comes to the best pies, there are usually two main approaches: seasonally sweet fruit pies and luscious cream pies. There are fans of one and fans of the other, and maybe you switch depending on the time of year. But what if you’re a fan of both and don’t want to choose? Then don’t! Because there are creamy fruit pies that are the very best of both worlds, and you’ll find a dozen of them right here!

How the “creamy” part of these pies happens really varies. For instance, Ree Drummond’s old-fashioned blueberry sour cream pie relies on (surprise!) sour cream for the tangy and creamy filling, whereas her raspberry cream pie uses vanilla pudding and yogurt. And you’ll find quite a few pies, like classic key lime, that use sweetened condensed milk to not only make them creamy and sweet, but also balance out the acidity.

The “fruit” part also varies! You’ll find ways to use in-season fruit, of course, like the aforementioned berry pies. But you’ll also find ways to use frozen fruit like mango, and lots of juice for the citrus pies. There’s even one that uses jam, so you can make it any time of year! Now that you know creamy fruit pie recipes are a thing, the hardest part isn’t making them. It’s deciding which one to make first!
