If you ask me, no holiday table is truly complete without a big bowl of cranberry fluff salad! This retro-inspired treat has been showing up at family gatherings for generations—and for good reason. It’s sweet, tart, creamy, and irresistibly fluffy (thanks to a good helping of whipped cream and mini marshmallows). I love that it’s part salad, part dessert, and completely festive. The bright pops of cranberry and pineapple add a fresh, fruity flavor that balances beautifully with the richness of the cream cheese and toasted pecans.

It’s also a total make-ahead miracle—perfect for when the kitchen is bustling with roast turkey, casseroles, and pies. Just mix it up the day before, chill, and let the flavors mingle into merry perfection. Before serving, I like to sprinkle a few extra marshmallows on top for that signature “snowy” look.

Whether you’re serving it at Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a cozy winter potluck, this cranberry fluff salad brings a nostalgic touch to the table!

Can you make cranberry fluff salad ahead of time?

This is one of those magical make-ahead recipes that actually tastes better after chilling. You can prepare it up to 24 hours in advance and store it in the refrigerator until serving time. Just give it a gentle stir before serving and top with a few extra marshmallows for garnish.

How long does cranberry fluff salad last?

Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, your cranberry fluff will stay fresh for up to three days. It’s best served chilled and gently stirred before enjoying.

Can you freeze cranberry fluff salad?

Unfortunately, no. Freezing this salad would mess with the texture way too much, so I don't recommend it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained and patted dry
  • 1 (14-ounce) can whole cranberry sauce
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows, plus more for garnish
  • 1 tsp. grated orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Directions

    1. Step 1Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    2. Step 2Spread the pecans on a baking sheet and bake until fragrant and lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes, then roughly chop and transfer to a large bowl.
    3. Step 3Add the pineapple, cranberry sauce, marshmallows, orange zest, vanilla, and salt to the pecans. Stir to combine, then set aside.
    4. Step 4In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the heavy cream and mix on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes.
    5. Step 5Fold the whipped cream into the cranberry mixture until well combined. Let chill for at least 2 hours and up to overnight. Garnish with more marshmallows before serving.

Tip: You can make this salad up to 3 days ahead of time. Store it tightly covered in the refrigerator and stir gently before serving.
