If you’re looking for an appetizer that’s elegant, effortless, and bursting with flavor, these prosciutto-wrapped pears are just the thing! They’re sweet, salty, and a little bit fancy—perfect for holiday parties, special dinners, or even a cozy night in with a glass of wine. The combination of juicy, crisp pears, salty prosciutto, peppery arugula, and a touch of fig preserves and mustard is irresistible!

I love this recipe because it’s quick to make (no cooking required!) yet still feels totally sophisticated. The fig and mustard spread adds a hint of sweetness and tang that pairs perfectly with the savory prosciutto. And that little drizzle of lemon juice keeps the pears fresh and bright. It’s the perfect bite—balanced, flavorful, and absolutely beautiful on a platter. Serve it with a glass of winter sangria and some pretty Christmas crudités for a picture perfect holiday spread!

What kind of pears work best for prosciutto-wrapped pears?

Firm varieties of pears like Bosc, Bartlett, or Anjou work well here. They hold their shape and offer just the right amount of sweetness to complement the salty prosciutto.

Can you make prosciutto-wrapped pears ahead of time?

You can mix the fig preserves and mustard in advance, but it's best to assemble these bites right before you serve them. The pears can brown and the arugula may wilt if you make them too far ahead of time.

Ingredients

  • 2 green or red pears
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. fig preserves
  • 4 tsp. whole-grain mustard
  • 2 cups arugula
  • 12 thin slices prosciutto, cut in half lengthwise (about 5 ounces)

Directions

    1. Step 1Cut each pear into 12 slices, removing the core. Drizzle with lemon juice and season with salt and pepper.
    2. Step 2Combine the fig preserves and mustard in a small bowl. Dollop about ¼ teaspoon of the fig mixture on one cut side of each slice of pear. Press 2 or 3 arugula leaves into the fig mixture, then wrap with a piece of prosciutto. Serve immediately.
