If a recipe includes the magic words “chicken” and “parmesan,” I’m already halfway to the table. These pull-apart chicken parmesan sliders deliver all the melty cheese, juicy chicken, and savory marinara you crave—and then go a step further with a bright layer of pesto and garlic-herb butter brushed on top. Store‑bought frozen chicken nuggets keep things quick (and keep the kitchen tidy), so you can get a hot, fully loaded batch of two-bite sandwiches on the table without breaking a sweat. Slider recipes are guaranteed game-day winners, and just as tasty for lunches or as after‑school snacks. Got a few extra minutes? Whip up this simple homemade pesto or marinara and send them right over the top.

What kind of rolls are best for chicken parmesan sliders?

Soft, pull-apart dinner rolls work best for chicken parmesan sliders. Hawaiian rolls are a great option if you like a touch of sweetness, while buttery or plain dinner rolls offer a more savory flavor. Be sure to choose rolls that come attached in a slab so you can easily slice, assemble, and bake the sliders all at once.

Can you make pull-apart chicken parmesan sliders ahead of time?

It’s best to assemble these sliders just before baking and serving so the rolls don’t get soggy. But, to get a head start, bake the chicken nuggets up to 2 days ahead and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. There’s no need to reheat the nuggets before assembling, but the sliders may need a few extra minutes in the oven for the chicken to warm through. If the roll tops begin to brown too much, loosely cover them with foil and continue baking.

Ingredients

  • 12 frozen chicken nuggets
  • 2 Tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 (12-pack) dinner rolls
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese (about 8 oz.)
  • 3/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup prepared pesto
  • 2 Tbsp. salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

Directions

    1. Step 1Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put the chicken nuggets on the baking sheet, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon parmesan, and bake according to the package directions.
    2. Step 2Split the dinner rolls in half horizontally with a long serrated knife, keeping the rolls attached. Slide the nuggets to the side of the pan and place the roll bottoms on the baking sheet, cut-side up. Top with 6 slices of mozzarella to cover, tearing the cheese as needed to fit. Top each roll bottom with a chicken nugget and some marinara sauce. Cover with the remaining mozzarella. Spread the pesto on the cut side of the roll tops, then place on top of the sliders.
    3. Step 3Preheat the oven to 375˚F. Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Brush on the roll tops and sprinkle with the remaining 1 tablespoon parmesan. Bake until the mozzarella is melted and the rolls are golden, 10 to 12 minutes.
