Easter has always held a special place in my heart. There’s just something about spring finally showing up, the promise of new beginnings, and a table filled with family that makes it my very favorite holiday. To this day, I still make Easter baskets for all my kids—and yes, their significant others, too. I just can’t help myself! And now that baby Sofia is here, you better believe there’s a sweet little basket with her name on it as well. It’s officially a full production.
Right at the center of our Easter table is this beautiful honey-mustard glazed Easter ham. A big, bone-in ham feels celebratory in a way few other dishes do. I love scoring it in a diamond pattern, pressing whole cloves into the surface, and sliding it into the oven while the house fills with that unmistakable holiday aroma.
The simple honey-mustard glaze turns glossy and caramelized as it bakes, creating a sweet-and-savory coating that seeps into every slice. It’s tender, flavorful, and perfect alongside all the springtime sides, like these fun rosemary Hasselback potatoes, bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles, and herbed deviled eggs. For me, this baked ham isn’t just dinner—it’s tradition, family, and one more reason I adore Easter Sunday.
How long do you cook a fully cooked bone-in ham?
Since this ham is already fully cooked, you’re simply reheating it. Bake the ham, tented with foil, at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for about 2 hours, until warmed through. After glazing, return it to the oven uncovered for about 40 more minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize.
Why do you score honey-mustard glazed ham?
Scoring the ham in a diamond pattern helps the glaze seep into the meat and creates that classic holiday presentation. Studding whole cloves between the diamonds adds subtle spice and traditional flavor.
How long should ham rest before slicing?
Let the ham rest for 15 to 20 minutes after removing it from the oven. This helps the juices redistribute and makes slicing easier.
How much ham should you serve per person for Easter dinner?
Plan for about ¾ to 1 pound per person when serving a bone-in ham to ensure everyone gets a generous portion (with a little wiggle room for leftovers!).

Ingredients
- 1 (12- to 15-pound) fully cooked bone-in ham
- 1/2 tsp. whole cloves
- 1/2 cup dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
Directions
- Step 1For the ham: Preheat the oven to 325 ̊ Fahrenheit. Score the surface of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. Stick the cloves in between the diamonds.
- Step 2Place the ham on a rack in a large roasting pan, tent it with foil and bake until warmed through, about 2 hours.
- Step 3For the glaze: Mix the mustard, honey and pepper in a medium bowl.
- Step 4Remove the ham from the oven and uncover. Brush with half of the glaze, making sure to get it in the scored lines. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake until the ham looks glossy, about 20 minutes. Brush with the remaining glaze and bake until just beginning to caramelize, about 20 more minutes.
- Step 5Remove the ham from the oven and let rest 15 to 20 minutes.
Tip: Look for a bone-in ham that's not spiral cut. It'll be easier to score and stay moist and juicy while cooking.
