Easter is such a special day in the Drummond household—and that’s because it’s a happy occasion to spend time with family. “I don’t know if it’s just my age or my sappiness, but I just love being with the people I love,” Ree admits in her new Easter special on YouTube. “I cherish the times more than ever.” Between attending church together and racing each other in an epic Easter egg hunt, the Drummonds’ annual Easter traditions are filled with lots of family fun.
One of the best parts of the day? Brunch, of course! Every year, Ree prepares the most beautiful meal for her husband and kids, which she says “has never, ever let me down.” A glorious glazed ham is, obviously, the star of the show, but the Easter sides help it shine: creamy scalloped potatoes, whiskey-glazed carrots, simple roasted asparagus, a colorful fruit salad, assorted deviled eggs, and her all-time favorite carrot cake, Sigrid’s carrot cake.
But to give this delectable spread the recognition it deserves, a gorgeous tablescape is in order! “This is where it all comes together: the table,” Ree says. “Set out your favorite flowers, your favorite dishes, and—of course—your favorite food.” If you’re looking for inspiration, here are some of Ree’s best tips and design ideas based on this year’s setup previewed in her YouTube Easter special. Ahead, you’ll find ideas for place settings, centerpieces, and other tabletop décor all in true Pioneer Woman fashion.
Pick Your Favorite Flowers
Setting an Easter brunch table like Ree is all about embracing the natural feel of spring. The best way to do this? Arrange fresh flowers at the center of your table. A vase or two of your favorite spring blooms will add so much vibrancy and vitality to your setup. This year, Ree opted for pink tulips, blue hyacinths, and garden roses for a striking centerpiece. Just make sure you include enough bouquets to cover the length of your table!
Add Variety With Your Vases
If you’re decorating your Easter brunch table with spring flowers, vases are essential! For her own setup, Ree added visual interest by varying her vase selection. While she displayed some of her bouquets in standard glass vases, she stuffed the rest of her stems in wide vases painted with a white floral pattern, so it wouldn’t look homogenous.
Curate Floral-Inspired Tableware
In keeping with the spring-inspired theme, setting your Easter brunch table with floral-printed tableware is guaranteed to freshen up your setup. While your specific place settings will vary depending on your Easter brunch menu, a stack of dishes will look particularly pretty covered in florals. Ree even coordinated her floral-inspired bowls and plates with other matching tabletop items like the aforementioned vases and her drinkware.
Alternate Your Place Settings
Another table-setting tip à la The Pioneer Woman is switching up the order of your place settings. Instead of sticking to the same stack for every place at the table, Ree decided to alternate them, which keeps things fresh and interesting. So, if one seat had a scalloped dinner plate and a floral salad plate, the next had the reverse: a floral dinner plate followed by a scalloped salad plate. Choosing one style of bowl maintains cohesion.
Include Scalloped Details
Speaking of scalloped plates, scalloped details will look so charming on your Easter brunch table. But Ree didn’t just stop at selecting plates with curved edges—she also included rounded detailing on her lace-lined table runner. However you implement this pretty pattern, shell-like curves will bring soft movement and effortless elegance to your Easter brunch table.
Embrace Lace Accents
Lace is another romantic feature that’ll beautify your brunch spread. While Ree incorporated the graceful accent through the beige runner that we mentioned above, she also added the refined fabric to her linen napkins. However you use it, whether it’s a statement piece or a smaller detail, lace will look so lovely!
Set Up a Self-Serve Pitcher
From a practical standpoint, filling up a pitcher with Easter punch is a wonderful way to accommodate your guests. With a pitcher on the table, anyone can refill their glass at any time, which will reduce trips to the kitchen, so everyone can enjoy their meal without interruptions. Not to mention, an eye-catching pitcher like Ree’s will make such a statement!
Offer Two Glassware Options
Whether you’re serving Easter cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages, it’s always nice to give folks a few options. To cater to every age group and palate, take a page out of Ree’s Easter brunch playbook and set the table with two different types of glasses for each person in attendance. You can fill one with water and keep the other one empty, so each guest has the ability to choose their preferred drink.
Define Your Table With a Runner
Laying down a long linen runner like Ree’s beige design lined with lace will pull all the details together. A table runner is such an easy way to add color, texture, and dimension to any surface. As a bonus, it’ll also protect your table from spills!
