The Drummonds are big on pranking each other. In fact, sharing a good laugh is something that Ree and Ladd Drummond credit as key to the success of their 30-year marriage. (Who knew rubber snakes could be so romantic?)

Nevertheless, it's been awhile since PW readers have been regaled with the anecdotal telling of a prank pulled in either direction (on Ree or on Ladd). Well, just in time for April Fools' Day, Ree answered the call in the “Talk to Me” column of the newest issue of The Pioneer Woman Magazine.

Here's the story as she tells it:

I saw a prank on TikTok and I knew it would be perfect for Ladd. I’d just come back from Tulsa and mentioned to Ladd that I’d gotten a low tire while I was there.

He said, “Did you have to put air in it?” I said yes, that I’d stopped at a place that aired it up, and that they’d actually put premium air in my tire… and that it was only $200. He stared at me, stunned. He said, “You paid $200 to put air in your tire.”

I doubled down and kept it going, insisting that the guy told me premium air was the best air. Ladd asked again: “$200? Seriously?” and I answered, “Well, it was actually just $195.” The funniest part was toward the end when he said, “Honey! There’s no such thing as premium air! Air is free!” and I answered, “Well, it was my money.”

Then, I couldn’t take it anymore and busted out laughing. It was a good one. Ladd was ready to drive down to Tulsa and have a conversation with the premium air guy.

There you have it: another prank successfully perpetrated in the Drummond family. Happy to see that these two still know how to make each other laugh!
