Beth and Rip went all the way to Texas for a fresh start, which sounds lovely… until you remember that these are still Duttons we’re talking about!
The official trailer for Dutton Ranch is finally here and the new Yellowstone spinoff looks like it’s wasting no time getting back to business. Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are leaving Montana behind for Rio Paloma, Texas, where they’re trying to build a new life with Carter after everything that happened in the Yellowstone finale. That part sounds peaceful enough. Then the trailer starts, and, well... welcome to Texas, honey!
Rip admits that he misses “waking up to the mountains,” while Beth wonders whether their new life is actually going to play out the way they’d imagined. His answer is very simple: “We’ll make it work.” (Of course he says that! Has Rip ever seen a problem and not decided to stare it down?)
But trouble seems to come quickly, especially once Annette Bening’s character, Beulah Jackson, enters the picture. Ed Harris’ Everett calls her “Miss Rio Paloma herself” and warns Beth that she’s “an acquired taste.” Beulah has her own ranch to protect, and she seems very interested in the fact that Beth and Rip have secrets. “People with secrets can be useful,” she says in the trailer. “Corruptible even.”
That should go well!
There’s also plenty of action packed into the trailer: horses, bar fights, gunfire, flames, bodies, and Carter looking very grown up. Finn Little returns as Carter, and the cast also includes Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind. Paramount+ describes the series as Beth and Rip trying to build a future “far from the ghosts of Yellowstone,” only to run into brutal new realities and a rival ranch that will do whatever it takes to protect its empire.
And because this is Beth, peace may not stay on the menu very long. “I wanted peace,” she says. Rip tells her, “You can’t chase peace.” Her answer? “Then peace will have to wait.”
Dutton Ranch premieres May 15 on Paramount+ with the first two episodes, followed by weekly episodes for the nine-episode season. Watch the trailer, then maybe take a deep breath. We have a feeling Beth and Rip’s Texas chapter is going to be a bumpy one!
