Alex Drummond is one of the many expectant mamas who knows how hard—and limiting—the first trimester can be. Like other pregnant women, Alex was wiped out from the headaches, nausea, and fatigue that hit her during the first few months of her second pregnancy (with her soon-to-be son!). To make matters worst, Alex couldn’t stomach coffee, which meant she had to temporarily give up one of her favorite morning rituals.
Earlier this week, though, Alex revealed to her Instagram followers that she’s finally back to having her daily cup of Joe again. “So glad that I am liking coffee again!” she shared on her Instagram Story Tuesday morning. “Didn’t want it at all weeks 6-11 of pregnancy.”
In fact, after the brief hiatus, Alex has a whole new appreciation for her daily coffee break! “I just dropped Sofia off at Mother’s Day Out and I always treat myself to a little latte after I drop her off,” Alex said of her current morning ritual. “And then I just sit in my car and drink it, and it feels like such a treat, such a luxury.”
Nowadays, between raising a toddler, caring for a dog, and carrying a second pregnancy, Alex rarely has the time to carve out moments of peace and quiet for herself. So, being able to sip her iced latte in silence in a completely empty car (thank you, Mother’s Day Out!) makes her daily coffee routine feel particularly special. “I never really get to sit in my car these days when I have Sofia with me,” she noted.
Mother’s Day Out has also given Alex the opportunity to finish her errands more efficiently, which she would have otherwise had to do while lugging baby Sofia around with her. “Going into stores with a toddler that isn’t walking yet is TOUGH,” Alex admitted in the next video on her Instagram Story. “So I’ve been saving my errands for when she’s at MDO! It’s really nice to have this time to run in and out of places. I see why parents do the whole iPad thing in public LOL but trying to avoid.” Plus, Mother’s Day Out has given Sofia a whole new group of baby friends, so it’s a win-win!
