Ree Drummond has a new admirer! Well, not exactly new. He lives in her house, has floppy ears, droopy eyes, and probably thinks the entire ranch exists as his own personal playground.
Ree recently shared the cutest new photo of one of her beloved basset hounds looking cozy, serious, and very attached to his mama. “He’s obsessed with me,” she wrote.
And yes, the feeling seems mutual! Ree has never tried to hide her love for basset hounds. She’s shared plenty of photos and videos of Rusty and Fred over the years, whether they’re napping in ridiculous positions, howling at who knows what, or inserting themselves into whatever the Drummond family has going on that day.
It’s not always easy for the rest of us to tell Rusty and Fred apart from a quick photo, but Ree surely knows. That’s what basset motherhood is all about: knowing which long ear belongs to which dog, who got the last snack, and who’s trying to act innocent when he is absolutely not innocent. 😂
Bassets have been part of Ree’s life for a long, long time. “I’ve loved bassets all my life!” she has said before. She even wrote a series of children’s books starring her late basset Charlie, who became just about as famous as a ranch dog can be.
These dogs really are family. Rusty and Fred famously crashed Alex and Mauricio’s wedding reception after walking down the road to join the party, and Fred later tried very hard to make himself useful during Paige and David’s wedding prep. (His official title may not have been groomsman, but please don’t tell him that.)
So yes, Ree’s basset may be obsessed with her. But after years of floppy ears, couch cuddles, wedding appearances, and ranch supervision, it seems safe to say Ree’s just as obsessed right back!
