Lucy may be getting a little older, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to retire from ranch life just yet! Ree Drummond recently shared an especially sweet look at life on the ranch with her longtime canine companion, showing the thoughtful way she’s helping Lucy keep up with all the action. Alongside the heartfelt moment, Ree summed it up simply: “Anything for Lucy girl.” 🥹❤️
In a video posted to Instagram, Ree shared a clever hack that’s helping Lucy hop into the Gator for their daily adventures. Rather than trying to lift her senior pup into the vehicle, she has found a practical Drummond-style solution by making use of an old loading chute. “I use our old loading chute to get Lucy in the Gator these days,” Ree explained in the clip, showing Lucy carefully making her way up and into the seat.
The sweet setup gives Lucy a little boost so she can climb in safely and comfortably, which means she can still tag along for one of her favorite activities: feeding the calves. It’s a small accommodation, but one that makes a big difference in keeping Lucy included. “She loves feeding the calves with me and I can’t lift her b/c old 👵,” Ree wrote.
Lucy has been a familiar face around the ranch for years, from lounging around the house to joining Ree for outdoor adventures. And while she might not move quite as quickly as she used to, she’s clearly still got an important job to do.
Because at Drummond Ranch, there’s always room for one more helper—especially when that helper has four paws and a whole lot of love!
