Kayce Dutton may be working as a U.S. Marshal now, but the new Marshals season 2 teaser makes one thing pretty clear: people still know him as a Dutton first.

People shared the first look at the upcoming season and it doesn’t waste much time putting Kayce back in trouble! In the teaser, Luke Grimes’ character is held at gunpoint by a group of men who clearly think they have the upper hand.

“I’ve heard stories about the Duttons,” one man tells him. And Kayce’s answer says plenty: “The fact that you’re doing this tells me you haven’t heard them all.”

Kayce has changed a lot since Yellowstone, but that Dutton name still does half the talking before he even opens his mouth. He’s tried to build a life outside of the ranch and the old family fights, but the teaser makes it look like season 2 is going to test just how far he can really get from all of that. The footage also shows Kayce on horseback, aiming a gun at a moving vehicle before the car flips. So, yes, things appear to be going about as smoothly as they usually do in the Yellowstone universe!

Of course, the teaser is only piling new danger on top of everything season 1 left unresolved. Kayce and the Marshals were still dealing with the aftermath of the attack on Thomas Rainwater, while the larger East Camp conspiracy continued to come into focus. Rainwater believed Nathan Irons was acting on someone else’s orders, and Esquire pointed to Tom Weaver as a major force behind the season’s chaos. Then there’s Tate, who was left in a frightening position after the finale. His storyline alone gives Kayce more than enough reason to stop playing nice in season 2.

CBS hasn’t announced an exact premiere date yet, but Paramount+ says Marshals season 2 will return in the fall of 2026. And judging by this first teaser, Kayce’s next chapter is going to be every bit as tense as fans hoped!
