Alex Drummond's husband, Mauricio, just rang in 29 in the sweetest way possible! While the new dad spent the bulk of his birthday at work, he had the cutest surprise waiting for him when he came home at the end of the day: a birthday greeting from his kids! Luckily, Alex documented the adorable family moment, so we can live vicariously through baby Sofia and George's heartwarming birthday wishes dedicated to their dad.
In the first clip Alex shared, Sofia is crawling across the family's front porch, eagerly awaiting her dad's arrival. "You want to greet Dada?" Alex asks her daughter. Then, George, who seems to sense Mauricio's presence, bolts right past Sofia and veers left toward the driveway. "Georgie, you almost knocked Sofia over!" Alex says, laughing, before telling Sofia, excitedly, "Let's go see Dada!" Alex's caption perfectly sums up the moment: "Greeting crew for dada on his bday (George got a little too excited!)."
The next video captures Mauricio's reaction to the surprise welcoming committee—and it's too cute. After hopping out of the car, Mauricio walks across their front yard and up the walkway, while George zooms around him, almost as if he understands that this return from work is particularly special! Alex then cuts the camera over to Sofia, who's kneeling on the front path, patiently waiting for her dad to come closer.
When Mauricio sees that both George and Sofia are there to greet him, his jaw drops, and he waves to the camera. "This is 29 🥳 🥳 🥳," Alex captioned the clip. Mauricio thanks George for his surprise birthday gift by rubbing the loyal pooch's head, an interaction that Sofia tries to process a few feet away. Once Sofia comes to the conclusion that she does want to be a part of the action, she crawls toward her dad and older brother. But when George suddenly darts from the scene (and is too quick to catch up with), Sofia decides to pivot toward Alex, who's standing off to the side, recording the moment.
Even though Sofia doesn't fully grasp what's going on and, instead, decides to perfect her standing practice by grabbing Alex's pants to hoist herself up, George gives Mauricio the love and attention he rightfully deserves. In the video, the playful pup sprints back to Mauricio, tail wagging and all, and gives his dad a big hug by jumping into his arms, placing his paws on Mauricio's shoulders, and resting his snout on Mauricio's nose.
While Mauricio's kids (both two- and four-legged!) had slightly different ideas of how to celebrate their dad's birthday, both well-wishes were adorable in their own unique way.
