Alex Drummond’s family getaway to Sedona, Arizona, had its fair share of sunny hikes, scenic views, and quality time—along with a “jarring experience” that kept the crew on their toes. At the beginning of the trip, Alex’s daughter, Sofia, developed a mysterious rash (which they soon discovered was an allergic reaction) that caused a blip in their travel plans, but the 16-month-old was an absolute trooper. Seemingly unbothered by the rash incident, Sofia was all smiles for the hours-long hikes and even got to break out a brand-new gingham-printed matching set. But even though she fully embraced and enjoyed her vacation, Sofia couldn’t wait to get back home to her big brother, who she affectionately calls “Bubbas.”
While Alex; her husband, Mauricio; and Sofia were adventuring in Arizona, Bubbas, aka George, was having a “staycation” with the dog sitter. So, after spending days apart, Sofia was ready to play with her older brother in Dallas again. The day after Sofia and her parents touched down in Texas, Alex caught the sweet sibling reunion on video. The moment was so heartwarming that a wordy caption wouldn’t do it justice—instead, a single “🥹” emoji that Alex added spoke volumes.
In the clip, Sofia is sitting on the living room rug, looking so cuddly in her pajamas, while playing with a toy animal. George, the ever protective and loving older sibling, is lying right at his sister’s feet. When Alex asks Sofia, “Can you give Bubbas a hug?” Sofia immediately melts into George, resting her head on his back and clutching his furry coat with her right hand. While Alex says, “Aww, that’s so sweet,” Sofia rests on George for a few seconds before hoisting herself back up and returning to her toy. At the end of the video, Alex asks her daughter, “Did you miss Bubbas?” And based on Sofia’s affectionate embrace, she definitely did!
Throughout the entire interaction, George proceeded to lie there calmly, like it was a normal everyday happening. And according to a photo of George that Alex uploaded to her Instagram Story beforehand, the Golden Retriever was prepared for it. “Home sweet home,” Alex announced alongside the sweet picture. “Reunited with dis guy…Now he’s ready to be back on bubbas duty.” George—who always takes his job as Sofia’s patient, accommodating big brother seriously—definitely passed his first post-vacation task!
