On a hot summer day, a nice dip in the pool feels so refreshing. Particularly when you live in a place like Dallas, you have to find any way to cool down. Paige Drummond knows that all too well, and clearly, so does her dog, Murphy!

If you haven’t been properly introduced yet, Murphy was brought home by Paige and her husband, David, back in January. Since then, he’s been entertaining the whole Drummond family. He’s been to the ranch in Oklahoma, made some new horse friends, and even survived his first snowfall.

So, yes, he’s already made quite the splash...and he continues to do so, quite literally now that it’s summertime! That’s because Paige got him a kiddie pool, so he can cool down and relax, even in the heat. “Nothing makes him happier!” she said on a recent Instagram Story.

He got so comfy in his new pool that he eventually took a snooze for a bit. And then, well, it was playtime. A puppy’s gotta do what a puppy’s gotta do! Paige captured a video where Murphy is jumping in and out of the water. Then he decided to chew on the edge of the pool. Why? Who knows. We’re not meant to understand puppy brains! “Good thing the pool was only $5 🤣,” Paige joked.

Pools are actually an expert-approved way to cool down dogs. Ree’s dog, Duke, loved his kiddie pool, while Alex’s dog, George, prefers his splash pad. While you can invest in an actual dog pool, you can "just provide a child's wading pool, fill it daily with cool water and let the water-puppies splash to their heart's content," suggests pet expert Amy Shojai.

And that’s exactly what Paige did! You can grab one for just a few dollars and let your dog romp around while staying cool. Hopefully, Murphy learns that the pool is for water, not for chomping. But either way, it was still worth the five bucks, especially given how entertaining he was to watch.
