It’s hard not to love Alex Drummond’s ultra fluffy, ever-loyal golden retriever, George. He’s a steady presence who patiently lets his baby sister, Sofia, pull his fur for hugs (which she adorably calls “guhs”), yet he’s equally playful and fun-loving proven whenever he’s fighting Sofia on her outdoor water toy or hogging all the pillows on his parents’ bed. George is obviously adored by his family, but Alex’s Instagram followers are also constantly praising his obedience and gushing over his loving relationship with Sofia.
So when Alex noticed a lump on his back, you could only imaging how panic-stricken she was about it. Like any responsible mother and dog owner, Alex swiftly booked an appointment with a vet. Thankfully, that vet visit, which took place this past weekend, instantly put her worries about George’s health at ease.
On Instagram, Alex updated her followers on George’s recent health scare before sharing a positive recap of the appointment. “We found a lump on Georgie’s back a couple weeks ago and were a little nervous about it,” Alex disclosed to her followers. “But we took him to the vet yesterday and thank goodness it was just a cyst! 🙏 🙏.” Underneath a sweet photo of George, who was captured sitting calmly on their living room rug, Alex added, “our bestest boy.” It couldn’t be more true! As Sofia’s “Bubbas” and partner in crime, George is a big part of the family, so his health is, obviously, highly important!
This wasn’t the first time a physical change on George made Alex emotional. Last winter, when Alex saw a white tint around George’s mouth, nose, and whiskers, she couldn’t help but shed a few tears. “Not me tearing up because his snoot is starting to turn white 🥲,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, along with the humorous disclaimer, “(He’s 3 years old lol).” While a white snout is a sign of aging, luckily, the loss of color was a temporary reaction to a long, wintry walk in blustering temperatures!
Regardless of the health concern, in both cases, Alex (and her followers) were so relieved about the outcome. Now, Alex has one less thing to worry about, which is especially important with baby number two on the way!
