Baby Sofia has a very simple system for identifying her dad: dark hair equals Dada.
Alex Drummond shared the cutest little video of her daughter reading a book at home, and it turns out Sofia has started recognizing Mauricio in just about every brown-haired character she sees. Never mind that the person is, you know, a cartoon illustration in a children’s book. The hair checks out—and that’s apparently enough evidence for Sofia!
“Every time Sofia sees a book character with dark hair she thinks it’s dada 😂😂😂😂,” Alex wrote over the Instagram Story.
In the clip, Sofia sits on the floor with a board book open in front of her, pointing at the page while Alex sweetly asks who she sees. Sofia studies the picture, taps the character and gives the answer of the hour: Dada.
To be fair, you can understand how she got there! Sofia spends plenty of time around her grandma Ree Ree and her famously red hair, while Alex has been in her lighter, newly-blonde era after her recent “Mom Chop” haircut. So when a dark-haired character appears in one of Sofia’s books, well, the girl knows her categories. That’s Mauricio. Case closed!
It’s been a big season for Sofia in general. She recently took her first steps at the ranch with Ree, Alex, and Paige nearby, and Alex later shared another video of her walking on her own with car keys in hand, as if she had errands to run. She’s also been showing off her growing little vocabulary, which is always fun. (Why are baby words just the cutest thing ever?!)
Now someone just needs to find Sofia a few books with red-haired characters and see if The Pioneer Woman gets the same treatment. This feels like an important experiment! 🤔
