Sofia Marie Scott had a great first day of Mother’s Day Out. Her mama, meanwhile, had a great cry in the car. 😂
Alex Drummond sent Sofia off for the new “MDO” year this week and judging by the number of Instagram Stories that followed, she was feeling this particular milestone quite a bit. Sofia had already attended the part-time program in the spring after a spot unexpectedly opened up, but this time came with the full back-to-school treatment: new school supplies, a teacher meet-and-greet, and an extremely important first-day photo shoot.
Sofia showed up in blue gingham with apple appliqués, white bow shoes, and two little hair buns, happily posing with her “First Day” sign while Alex documented every angle. “She’s all smiles, Mama is not okay!” Alex wrote.
Then came the part where she actually had to leave. Alex had been looking forward to using those few quiet hours to be productive and prep for baby brother. But the second she actually dropped Sofia off, she was back in the car with tears in her eyes. So much for the productive head start. 😂
And Alex really does have plenty she could accomplish during those few quiet hours. Baby boy is due in September, the nursery is coming together, and she’s been working her way through a fairly ambitious baby checklist. But this is also the last little stretch of life when Sofia is her only baby and Alex clearly knows it!
“Praying every blessing & provision over this girl and her year ahead,” she wrote alongside another first-day photo. “Going to be one filled with lots of change 😭❤️ I will forever cherish every snuggly summer morning spent together in our jammies. I love you I love you I love you!”
Sofia, for her part, appeared considerably less torn up about the arrangement. Alex later announced she was “counting down the minutes” until pickup while her “lil’ petunia” grinned through the photos.
It was successful first day for Sofia... and a slightly teary one for Mom. ❤️
