Baby Sofia may have been under the weather on Easter, but she was still the cutest bunny on the ranch!
Alex Drummond shared a new set of photos from her daughter Sofia’s second Easter and they tell quite a story. There are bunny ears, over-stuffed baskets, a church morning, multiple stops at The Merc, a giant stuffed bunny making a return appearance, and one very reasonable explanation for why Sofia was missing from the big family photo. (She was napping, as one-year-olds are wont to do. 😂)
“Snaps from a pretty special Easter weekend. May Sophia always know that He is risen indeed,” Alex captioned her post. “Swipe to the end for a throwback to last year.” And the throwback really is the kicker! Last Easter, Sofia was propped up in front of that enormous bunny, looking especially tiny, mostly bald, and perfectly round as she skeptically took it all in. This year, she’s right in the middle of things, sitting up, smiling for the camera, and looking big enough to have opinions about the whole operation.
Alex also shared that Sofia had an ear infection and “was not feeling the best,” but their crew still made the most of the weekend. And they really did! Ree’s own Easter recap filled in some of the rest of the Easter picture: everyone was on the ranch, the family stuffed eggs for the church hunt, a few of the kids loaded up for breakfast at The Merc, they had a very competitive egg hunt of their own, and Ree was running on what she called “happy exhaustion” by the time it was all over.
And that’s what makes Alex’s post so sweet. It doesn’t look like one of those perfectly smooth holidays where everybody smiles on cue and nobody melts down or needs a nap. It looks like Easter with a toddler. Sofia missed the family photo, took breaks, got cuddled a lot, and still wound up with a basket, a bunny, a church dress, and about fifteen people thrilled to see her!
Also, for anyone still distracted by the side-by-side bunny photos, you’re not alone. Sofia has grown so much in one year! And, if you ask us, that hair of hers is looking a little redder every minute. (Longtime followers of The Pioneer Woman are going to notice that right away. 😉)
Not bad for Easter number two!
