Alex Drummond Shares a Peek Inside Baby Sofia's First Trip to New York City

Little Sofia takes on the Big Apple! For the past few days, Alex Drummond’s 10-month-old daughter has been loving every exciting adventure of her latest getaway to New York City, and there are plenty of photos to prove it. Since Sunday, Sofia (along with multiple generations of Drummond women) has been accompanying her grandmother, Ree Drummond (aka ReeRee!), while promoting her new cookbook, The Essential Recipes, in Manhattan. In addition to offering Ree moral support and lots of cuddles during moments of downtime, Sofia has been having a blast exploring every nook and cranny of the city that never sleeps.
Since they landed in New York City, it's been nonstop excitement for Sofia and the rest of the Drummond crew. So far, during the trip, Ree's granddaughter has seen the fall foliage in Central Park, hit some shops with her mom, made her debut on the Today show, and discovered a few new favorite toys (a piece of lettuce and a gold necklace). Thankfully, Sofia has had an entourage of paparazzi (her mom, Aunt Paige, and ReeRee) documenting her every move, so we can live vicariously through their girls' getaway and stay up to date on Sofia's whereabouts and cutest moments.

Morning Milkies in Bed
After a long travel day (with a last-minute flight change), Sofia kicked off her first day in New York City with breakfast in bed—the only real way to start a vacation! While relaxing on the luxurious hotel bed in her pajamas and sleep sack, Sofia fueled up for all the sightseeing by drinking her bottle. Alex caught the moment on camera, and Sofia's sleepy expression is just precious.
Leaf-Peeping in Central Park
One of their first stops was Central Park, which is where Sofia learned, according to Alex’s Instagram caption, “what actual fall feels like!” To brave the chilly temperatures (at least for Dallas standards), Alex bundled Sofia up in cozy autumn accessories: a beige coat and cream hat. And as they strolled through the park, Alex took advantage of the foliage-filled backdrop by having an impromptu photoshoot with Sofia, who seemed to enjoy every second of it.
Backstage Support on 'Today'
When Ree chatted about The Essential Recipes on the Today show, Sofia made an on-camera appearance and cheered ReeRee on backstage! On her Instagram Story, Alex uploaded an adorable moment that Ree shared with Sofia after the segment wrapped, where they held hands and locked eyes. In a hand-drawn thought bubble, Alex even added a hypothetical comment from Sofia that said, “Tank you for dedicating your cookbook to me, ReeRee!"
Supervised Shopping With Mom
Since New York City has some of the world's best shopping, Alex snuck away one night to explore—and Sofia tagged along! In a mirror picture Alex posted of the two of them, Sofia was the snuggliest shopping companion in her fuzzy white coat and soft pink blanket. She was also the most laid-back! “She doesn’t question my purchases 😇,” Alex joked.
Infectious Giggles With Aunt Paige
When Sofia was soaking up the magical autumnal views during their previously mentioned photo session, Paige wanted to grab a few pictures with her niece, too! In one of the cutest documented moments that will definitely put a smile to your face, Sofia made Paige laugh with her silly facial expression and energetic arm movements.
Afternoon Strolls Down the City Streets
During an afternoon stroll through the city, Alex and Sofia took in the charming architecture down the picturesque tree-lined streets. Alex prepared for the walk by grabbing an iced coffee and strapping Sofia up in a blue baby wrap carrier that perfectly matched her outfit. Meanwhile, Sofia was wearing the cutest all-pink outfit and a sweet smile on her face!
Makeshift Playtime With ReeRee
No matter where she was in New York City, Sofia managed to entertain herself! At lunch, Sofia kept herself busy for 30 minutes with a piece of lettuce. Then, while they were out and about, Sofia made d0 with Ree’s long gold necklace as a substitute toy. The picture that Ree shared on social media captured Sofia’s intense concentration and suggested that “all necklaces are for Sofia!”
Bite-Sized Room Service for Dinner
After a busy day touring quintessential New York City landmarks, Sofia finished it off in a luxurious way: with hotel room service! For dinner, Alex ordered her daughter chicken and broccoli, which she then cut up into bite-sized pieces for Sofia to easily eat. The picture Alex posted of their dinnertime hang shows a famished Sofia digging into the spread.
Restorative Sleep in the Crib
We had to complete our roundup with this heart-melting shot of Sofia cuddled up in her hotel crib—she just looks so cute and cozy! The black-and-white image that Alex took shows a sleeping Sofia lying peacefully on her stomach. By the looks of it, she was so tuckered out that she didn’t even need her pacifier to help her stay asleep!
