Ever since Alex Drummond announced the exciting news that she and her husband, Mauricio, are expecting their second baby (a little boy!), she’s taken her followers along on the wild ride—sharing both the highs and the lows. While Alex has acknowledged that it’s a true miracle, she doesn’t sugarcoat the uncomfortable reality of pregnancy, either: the food aversions, the specific cravings, the “brutal” heartburn. For all the expectant mothers who follow Alex—or the ones who have been in Alex’s shoes before—her candidness about carrying a baby is refreshing, relatable, and validating.

Although pregnancy isn’t an easy journey, it’s definitely worth celebrating! As Alex’s symptoms start to subside and her due date approaches, Ree Drummond’s oldest is taking the time to commemorate this milestone moment in her life. For starters, she’s heading to Cabo on a “little babymoon/anniversary getaway” with Mauricio this week. And she’s already begun planning a baby sprinkle, which is a casual, more intimate version of the traditional baby shower, and typically hosted before the arrival of a second child.

Because Alex’s baby shower for her 16-month-old daughter, Sofia, was a beautiful floral-filled affair, folks has been curious about her plans this time around. In an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday evening, when a follower asked if Alex will be having a baby shower or a sprinkle, Alex responded, “Yes, we are doing a ‘sprinkle’ 😌 !!!!!”

Alex then explained that initially, however, she wasn’t sure whether she’d have a pre-baby celebration at all. “I was on the fence whether I wanted to do something or not, but my bestie and I are both due my baby #2 a few weeks apart and they’re both BOYS so we decided to do a combined sprinkle 🥰,” Alex shared. “It’s going to be co-ed & very chill, just hanging out with friends celebrating the baby boys!”

While Alex hasn’t revealed the date yet, she and her friend have already chosen the theme—and it’s so fitting! “The theme is ‘It’s not their first rodeo’ (because baby number 2 hehe),” Alex revealed. “It’ll be fun Western vibes!” There are so many fun ways to execute this aesthetic, but whichever direction Alex and her friend take, we suspect there will be lots of cowboy hats, cowboy boots, bales of hay, and shades of brown and blue! We’re super excited to see what their combined baby sprinkle has in store, but until then, we’ll be living vicariously through Alex’s Cabo trip!
