It’s no secret that Ree Drummond has quite the green thumb. When she isn’t creating new recipes, perfecting her QVC collection, and gushing over her granddaughter, Ree is probably spending time in her garden. Since Ree has been nurturing the herbs, vegetables, and flowers (dahlias, obviously!) growing in her raised beds on and off for decades, her daughter Paige grew up surrounded by beautiful blooms and colorful crops. (Of course, living on Drummond Ranch with its wide-open spaces also helped introduce Paige to the natural world!)
So, it’s easy to see why Paige inherited her mom’s love of nature. Whether it’s potted mums on her fall front porch or crystal gasses brimming with green hydrangeas and yellow stock flowers in her living room, Paige seems to find joy in decorating her Dallas home with plants. In fact, a few months ago, Paige took on an impressive gardening venture: planting a limelight hydrangea tree in her yard.
This past week, Paige documented her tree’s progress, and based on the photos she posted, the blooms are thriving! “I planted this limelight hydrangea tree a few months ago and she’s really showing off!! 🤍,” Paige proudly shared on her Instagram Story. The picture she uploaded shows an upright tree with bright green leaves glistening in the sunshine, plus full, cone-shaped blooms in a lime-green color, with some of the petals already turning white. Surrounded by small shrubs, her limelight hydrangea tree definitely steals the show! “I’m obsessed,” Paige added in another shot of her pretty plant.
Limelight hydrangea trees are show-stopping, fast-growing perennials that return year after year. Throughout the summer and fall, the blooms change colors: They start off as a bright green hue before transitioning to a creamy white tone and eventually to a vibrant pink or rich burgundy shade in fall. Since these plants grow up to 10 feet tall and eight feet wide at full maturity, Paige’s limelight hydrangea tree isn’t even at its prime yet—but it’s already the focal point of her garden!
Paige isn’t the only Drummond girl who has an affinity for hydrangeas. This past fall, Alex and her husband, Mauricio, planted a beautiful bed of white hydrangeas at the front of their walkway. “I’m giving my hydrangea dreams a shot…….We’ll see how this goes 😅,” Alex shared at the time with her followers. While we haven’t gotten an update in quite some time, we suspect Alex’s blooms are flourishing like Paige’s!
