Paige Drummond’s latest girls’ weekend had all the essentials: good friends, a neighborhood walk, one lovable brown dog who completely ignored the “girls” part of the invitation, and—most importantly, according to Paige—a mahjong table.

“A weekend with murph and the girls! 🤍” Paige captioned one photo, showing Murphy trotting alongside the group. He’s technically a boy, but considering how thoroughly the chocolate Lab has taken over Paige and David’s household, we assume his invitation is permanent. 😂

Then came the real activity of the weekend.

“And a girls weekend isn’t complete without some Mahj! 💕🀄,” Paige wrote over a photo of an extremely cute floral mahjong setup from Oh My Mahjong, complete with pastel tiles and racks.

For the uninitiated, “mahj” is the affectionate shorthand for mahjong, the tile game with roots in China that has recently been finding an especially enthusiastic new audience in the United States. American mahjong is typically played by four people using racks, jokers, and a card of winning combinations, with plenty of drawing, discarding, and strategy along the way. In other words: a perfectly respectable reason to sit around a table with your friends for several hours!

And Paige has certainly earned a leisurely weekend. Her summer has already included celebrating one year of marriage to David, plenty of trips back to Oklahoma (including being at the ranch when Sofia took her first steps!), lots of hangs with her pals, and keeping Murphy entertained through the Dallas heat.

So, friends? Check. Mahj? Check. One four-legged party crasher? Obviously!
