Some people dream of summer babies, some people love spring birthdays, and Alex Drummond had her eye on September. Not for any complicated reason, either. Just vibes!
Alex, who is expecting her second baby with husband Mauricio Scott, recently answered a few questions from followers on Instagram, and one person asked why she wanted a September due date for her baby boy. As a reminder, Alex and Mauricio announced earlier this year that Sofia is going to be a big sister, and Ree shared at the time that the new baby is due September 21, which also happens to be her and Ladd’s wedding anniversary. Fun little family calendar detail!
Alex’s answer was very Alex: honest, practical, and also a little bit funny.
“Honestly just for the vibes!!!!!” she wrote over a photo of Sofia sitting outside in a red gingham Texas A&M outfit. “I struggled with PP in the middle of the winter 😢 the sun setting at 5pm/peak sick season with a newborn wasn’t great for my mental state.”
Then she explained the fall part of it all.
“September/fall in general is my favorite time of year with football season and the weather and all the fun fall activities so I figured it would be a way more enjoyable time to be postpartum??” she continued. “Just hoping to create the best environment possible 😂”
And it makes sense! A tiny newborn, football on TV, maybe a little crispness in the air if Texas decides to cooperate, and no 5 p.m. winter darkness? That does sound like a nicer setup than being freshly postpartum in the thick of cold-and-flu season. (Not that babies consult the family group chat before arriving, of course.)
Alex is now well into her second pregnancy and she’s been sharing little updates along the way. She previously said this pregnancy has mostly flown by compared to her first with Sofia, and in April, she shared that her anatomy scan “went perfect” and baby boy was doing great. She and Mauricio are still working on a name, too. Alex recently said they may just head to the hospital with a few options and see what feels right when they meet him.
So in a nutshell: September due date, fall vibes, football season, and hopefully a little more sunshine for everyone involved. Sounds like a pretty good plan to us!
