Alex Drummond's Baby Is One! Celebrate Sofia With a Look Back at Her Cutest Moments
Happy birthday, Baby Sofia!
If you've been keeping up with Alex and Mauricio's little girl, you know Ree Drummond was smitten from the start. Sofia Marie Scott arrived just a few days before Christmas in 2024 and Ree shared the news with the enthusiasm only a new grandmother can muster: "She is perfect. I'm saying that with as much objectivity as I can," Ree said at the time. "But I'm not kidding... she is perfect. Like, if you looked up 'perfect' in Merriam-Webster, it would reference Sofia Scott, and maybe even show a photo of her." 😂
Since then, Sofia has grown so fast Ree can barely keep up. One minute she was swaddled like a little peanut; now she's smiling, sprouting "toofers," traveling around the country, and making funny faces that end up as phone wallpaper. She's also checked off some firsts that feel especially Drummond: her very first rodeo (complete with ear protection!), Easter on the ranch overflowing with stuffed bunnies, a beach trip to Cinnamon Shore in seersucker and pink sunglasses, a first flight that went better than anyone dares to hope, and a first bite of steak that made everyone laugh (and probably made her grandpa very, very proud). She even tagged along to New York City, posed at a pumpkin patch, and somehow ended up on a Christmas cover with Ree. What a year!

Welcome to the World, Sofia Marie Scott
Sofia arrived just days before Christmas and Ree shared the happy news with a full heart. "She was born around 2:30 in the morning, and she is perfect," she wrote at the time. And that was the start of Sofia becoming the most important person in every room!
This Really Was Her First Rodeo
Ree protested, but Alex and Mauricio took Sofia to a rodeo in Fort Worth when she was still just a few weeks old. Ree summed it up best: "Against her grandmother's objections… at least she wore ear protection! Those cowboys can get loud!" Welcome to life as a Drummond girl, Sofia! 😂
First Easter on the Ranch (and the Biggest Basket of All Time)
Sofia's first Easter meant church in the little town, family coming in, and Sofia getting passed around nonstop. Oh, and the world's biggest Easter basket. "I think Sofia accidentally got visited by the Easter Bunny about thirteen times, and you know what? That is 100% okay," Ree joked. (It was her first Easter—no one was about to be restrained!)
Sofia's First Beach Trip
Sofia was laid-back and cool in her seersucker swimsuit and pink sunglasses for her very first trip to the beach at Cinnamon Shore. What a fashionista!
Sofia's First Cooking Lesson
When your grandmother is The Pioneer Woman, it's never too early to start learning to cook. And naturally, it just happened to be comfort food that was on the menu: biscuits and gravy!
Sofia Sees Herself in 'The Pioneer Woman Magazine'
Alex showed Sofia her big debut in The Pioneer Woman Magazine like, yes, of course you're in a magazine. Sofia sat there with her sweet little baby face, staring at the pages like she was thinking, "Okay… and?" (George was equally unimpressed. 😂)
Halfway to One!
Six months in, Sofia finally nailed her milestone photos. We even got a smile for this one!
First Flight Like a 'Seasoned Travel Pro'
Sofia's first flight went better than Alex could have ever imagined: She fed her during takeoff and Sofia slept most of the time. Every parent who has ever flown with a baby understands what a gift that is!
Her First Bite of Steak
When Sofia was first starting to try solid foods, Alex shared the cutest video of her falling completely in love with steak, of all things. Talk about a girl after her family's own heart!
Those Tiny 'Toofers' Make Their Debut
Sofia's first teeth didn't come without some drama. Alex joked at the time that the new "toothies" had been putting them through the ringer with teething pains—but just look at that little smile!
Sofia Starts to Crawl
It's official: Sofia Marie is on the move! When she finally started crawling, Alex couldn't contain her excitement. Until, of course, she realized that now she also can't contain Sofia. 😂
Little Sofia Takes on the Big Apple
Sofia's first New York City trip for Ree's book tour had her bundled up and tucked in close while the women did the walking (and the sightseeing). She was just happy to be along for the ride!
