Alex Drummond is officially in the home stretch of her pregnancy, which means the appointments are coming fast. In her case, sometimes two at a time!
The mom-to-be recently checked in from her car after finishing the first of two appointments that day. “Appointment 1/2 ✅,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “On the biweekly schedule now! So crazy.”
The phrase “high-risk pregnancy” can sound like a lot, but Alex calmly explained exactly why that label applies to her and what it means for her care.
“My pregnancy is automatically high-risk because I had blood pressure issues with my last pregnancy,” she said. As a result, Alex has appointments with both her regular OB and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, or MFM.
“So I usually try to stack them to where I can do them back to back because I have to do them [at the] same cadence,” Alex explained. She had just finished seeing her OB and was about to head into her second appointment to “look at baby boy.”
There were also a few shots involved. Alex received the Tdap vaccine, along with a RhoGAM shot because she has negative blood and bloodwork showed that her baby boy has positive blood. “Just like Sofia, this baby boy has positive blood, which means I gotta get some extra pokes haha,” she wrote. “Science is so crazy!!”
Alex explained that the RhoGAM shot is meant to “help my body not attack this fetus because it has positive blood type.” She also joked that Sofia should be thankful she inherited Mauricio’s positive blood type, since Alex herself didn’t even know she had negative blood until she became pregnant with her daughter.
Despite the needles and double appointments, Alex kept the update light. She was excited to get another look at her little boy and treated herself to Chick-fil-A between visits. “Somehow didn’t gain a pound since my last appointment???” she wrote. “Not complaining.”
Alex is now just over 30 weeks pregnant and expecting her baby boy in September. She previously shared that his anatomy scan “went perfect,” so for now, the extra appointments are simply part of keeping a close eye on both mom and baby as the countdown continues!
