Who put onions on the wedding reception menu?!
More than a year after Paige Drummond and David Andersen said “I do,” Ree Drummond is sharing a new look at one of the sweetest moments from their big day: Alex’s matron of honor speech. The short clip doesn’t include the entire toast, but it gives us the most extended glimpse yet—and shows both sisters trying, with varying degrees of success, not to cry.
The moment brought their story full circle. Paige served as maid of honor when Alex married Mauricio in 2021, then Alex stood beside Paige as matron of honor at her May 17, 2025 wedding on Drummond Ranch. Same sister duo, same Oklahoma prairie, reversed roles!
“I’ve also gotten a front-row seat into just the amazing woman that Paige has become,” Alex said during her speech. “She’s grown up from my little sister to someone that I admire so much in every single way.”
Alex then listed a few of those many ways—and worked in just enough sisterly teasing to keep everyone smiling. “Paige is fun, hilarious, creative, and adventurous, and not to mention drop-dead gorgeous,” she said. “She is a tall blonde bombshell and also a hell of a cowgirl.”
She even officially surrendered an old sibling competition. Although Alex said she once could have argued that she was the better ranch hand, “standing here today, she’s officially got me beat in every single category.”
That’s about when the tears really arrived. Paige wiped her eyes as Alex’s voice began to crack, but her big sister made it through the heart of her message.
“While a lot of people see Paige’s strong exterior, I think my favorite part about Paige is her huge, caring heart,” Alex said. “Even though Paige is my little sister, I look up to her in so many ways, and I couldn’t ask for a better woman to call my sister.”
Ree shared the clip with a reminder from Little Women: “It’s a relation stronger than marriage.” She also noted that she and her own sister, Betsy, enjoy quoting that line to Ladd whenever Betsy visits. Naturally! Apparently, sisterhood—and occasionally ganging up on Ladd—is a Drummond family tradition. 😉
