We keep saying how fast baby Sofia is growing up... and now she’s already behind the wheel. Yes, really!
In a recent video shared by Alex Drummond, little Sofia is perched right on Ree Ree’s lap, hands on the steering wheel of the ranch Gator as the two cruise down their sunlit driveway in Oklahoma. There’s that wide open pasture, a breeze catching Sofia’s (possibly reddish) hair, and just enough bounce in the ride to make it feel like the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to a toddler. Which, honestly, it might be!
The whole clip is shot from Alex’s point of view, so you can actually see both Ree and Sofia smiling and laughing as they ride along, with Sofia even turning around at one point to look back at her grandma. Then Ree shared a photo from her own perspective, where you see Sofia’s tiny hands gripping the wheel like she has very important ranch business to attend to. Ree’s arms are wrapped tightly around her as she does approximately 99.99% of the driving—but Sofia still looks completely locked in. Focused. Determined! Possibly ready to take over the entire ranch by next week. 😂
And in true Ree fashion, there’s a whole backstory to the Gator itself. “This is decidedly MY Gator. I am not letting anyone else on the ranch (namely Ladd, Bryce, or the cowboys) use it for any ranching purpose,” she explained. “It’s for me, gardening, feeding my calves, taking the dogs for rides, and teaching Sofia to drive.”
That last part really says it all! This is the kind of moment that feels so specific to the Drummond ranch, but also weirdly universal. Just a grandparent, a grandbaby, and a little adventure on a sunny day that turns into a core memory before anyone even realizes it!
Meanwhile, Sofia is out here “living her best life”…and apparently getting a head start on her driving lessons.
