Alex Drummond’s toddler, Sofia, just hit a new milestone: Her hair is finally long enough to wear in a ponytail! Over the past couple of months, Alex has been documenting all the changes in her daughter’s hair journey, from her cute curls to the new reddish tint (taking after her Ree Ree, of course!). Now, at almost 17 months old, Sofia’s hair has reached a length where the possibilities have expanded, so Alex obviously couldn’t wait to style her toddler’s hair in an updo!
Over the weekend, while Sofia was eating blueberries by the handful in her high chair, Alex debuted her daughter’s first official hairstyle, and it couldn’t have looked more precious! In the photo Alex posted to Instagram, Sofia’s curls are gathered at the top of her head and fastened with a baby-pink bow that matches the gingham-printed collar on her floral dress. Her hair is still parted to the side, and there are a few loose strands at the nape of her neck, so it’s more like a high half-up, half-down situation, but, nonetheless, it looks adorable. Naturally, the moment warranted all-caps lock: “FIRST PONYTAIL,” Alex announced in the sweet photo.
Sofia’s high ponytail might have stolen her mom’s heart, but Sofia personally wasn’t exactly sure what to think about the change—or, at least, that’s the internal dialogue Alex assumed! In another picture that showed off Sofia’s darling updo, Alex added a hypothetical thought bubble from Sofia’s point of view: “’Why does my head feel funky?’” We get it, Sofia! It’s definitely an adjustment—but a worthwhile one! Aside from looking so sweet and stylish, a ponytail will be super practical for all those morning strolls and park outings, especially during the summer months.
Later in the day, Alex still wasn’t over Sofia’s hair transformation—understandably! With her locks pulled back in a high ponytail and an iPhone fastened in her hand, Sofia seemed to have grown up overnight! “I’m sorry, who is this TODDLER!!” Alex exclaimed on her Instagram Story. While Sofia’s hair was obviously the highlight of the photo, Alex took a moment to call out the adorable dress Sofia was wearing from The Smocked Flamingo, which only added to the overall cuteness. The piece included a bubble skirt and a scalloped collar, plus a combination of spring patterns—gingham and floral—and pastel shades like blue, yellow, pink, and green. Alex styled the cute garment with white ruffled socks and slip-on sneakers with a white satin bow.
From the new hairstyle to her bubble dress, Sofia is looking more grownup by the day!
