Going in for an ultrasound might be standard protocol for expecting moms, but seeing a detailed photo of your baby is such a surreal, exciting, and all-around emotional experience. After Alex Drummond got her very first ultrasound of baby boy, she used the sonogram as a pivotal part of her pregnancy reveal. (Her toddler, Sofia, even held up the black-and-white snapshots of her baby brother in a few of the sweet Instagram photos!) Back in March, when Alex announced her second pregnancy on social media, the sonogram she posted showed the very early stages of her baby boy’s development. But now that Alex is smack dab in the middle of her second trimester, her updated sonogram reveals just how much the little guy has grown—truly, it’s astounding!
Over Memorial Day weekend, Alex uploaded a few photos from her latest ultrasound, and every picture shows an in-depth look at her baby boy, physical features and all! In her Instagram Story, you can make out the baby’s spine, head shape, and side profile—with an outline of his facial features. The third photo in the strip even demonstrates his little feet, which seem to have a full set of toes already! To express her excitement, Alex wrote: “Hi baby boy!!!!”
The updates didn’t stop there, though! In the following slide, Alex shared two additional photos. In the first shot, her baby boy is stretching out his arm at a right angle, and it almost looks like he has a faint outline of muscle in his biceps! “Flex 💪,” Alex joked. The final picture in the medley reveals a closeup of the baby’s nose and lips, which look so developed at the halfway point. Miraculous!
Just like her future son is growing and evolving, so are Alex’s pregnancy symptoms. Now that she’s over the hump, Alex says she’s feeling so much better during her second trimester: Overall, the nausea has substantially subsided, but she’s still dealing with lingering exhaustion (along with everyday toddler care, of course). Luckily, Alex got to decompress on a relaxing getaway to Cabo with her husband, Mauricio, for their babymoon. Plus, Alex knows her limits: She recently took a week-long break from social media when posting started to feel unmanageable. “Everything is all good over here, just finding it harder and harder to balance toddler life and pregnancy exhaustion as the weeks progress,” she explained to her followers after a dry spell on Instagram.
Regardless, things are looking up for Alex, and we couldn’t be more excited for her growing family!
