Alex Drummond’s Instagram is full of the sweet stuff: Sofia’s little milestones, walks with George, ranch visits, family photos, and all the cute everyday moments people love following along with.
But as Alex reminded everyone during a recent Instagram Q&A, what people see online is never the whole story. It’s the cute part. The funny part. The “grab your phone, this is adorable” part. Not necessarily the 4:37 p.m. meltdown part, because really, who among us thinks, “Wait, let me document this for Instagram!” while a baby is screaming and everyone needs a snack?
During the Q&A, someone asked Alex, “Does she ever cry? She seems so happy all the time!!!” Alex answered with a selfie of herself and Sofia, with one of them looking a little less than thrilled to be there.
“Yes 😂😂😂😂😂😂,” Alex wrote. “Reminder the internet is a highlight reel.” And there you have it! Simple, true, and probably helpful for parents and non-parents alike.
Alex has always been pretty open about sharing the sweet parts of life with Sofia, but she’s also shown little glimpses of the regular everyday challenges that come with motherhood. Last year, she gave a candid look at the “chaos” of being a new mom, and earlier this year, she shared a real-life morning vlog that included coffee, stroller walks, and the normal rhythm of getting through a day with a baby and a dog in tow. And guess what? It’s not always sunshine and rainbows!
So yes, Sofia is a happy little girl. But she also cries, because she’s a baby and not a decorative throw pillow. 😂 Both things can be true!
