The older Sofia gets, the more we get to see of her little personality. At 19 months old, Alex Drummond’s daughter has proven to be buzzing with curiosity about the world around her. Whenever something catches her eye, she feels compelled to give it a thorough inspection: tasting a stick, licking stickers, emptying an entire container of wipes (you get the picture). And Sofia’s current fixation demonstrates that the inquisitive toddler already has an eye for fashion—and knows exactly what makes an outfit!
In a video that she recently posted on Instagram, Alex shared with her followers that “ripping out mama’s claw clip is her newest obsession.” In Sofia’s eyes, regular baby toys don’t seem nearly as fascinating as her mom’s hair accessory! Whenever inspiration strikes, Sofia has no problem yanking out the claw clip for herself. 😂
But the cutest part of her latest infatuation might just be the sweet exchange that happens next. In the video, after Sofia pulls the claw clip out of her mom’s hair, Alex clearly enunciates, “clip,” and Sofia repeats the word in her endearing baby voice, practicing her verbal agility. Then, when Alex asks Sofia if she wants to try on the clip and reminds Sofia that they’re going to play “so pretty,” Sofia sticks out her tongue and squirms in anticipation, preparing for the fun game.
After Alex tells Sofia, “I’m gonna put it on you,” the toddler reflexively puts her hands on top of her head, like she’s entirely ready to model the chic accessory. Once the clip is secured on Sofia’s little strands, Alex squeals, “So pretty, Sofia!” Sofia crawls closer to the camera to get a better view of her new-and-improved hairdo.
Sofia, who suddenly decides she’s more interested in playing with the clip than wearing it, then retrieves the accessory from her locks and runs her fingers over the jagged edges while imitating her mom’s compliment—which sounds more like mumbled words and baby sounds but nonetheless mimics her mom’s same warm tone!
To balance out the playing field, Alex asks Sofia, “Now, you wanna put it on Mommy? Can you tell me that I look pretty?” After Alex plops the claw clip on top of her head, Sofia observes the accessory for a few seconds before snatching her gaze back to the camera and trying her best impression of “pretty,” which comes out like a high-pitched squeal that makes Alex laugh. To finish off the game, Alex clasps the claw clip on Sofia’s mane one more time and tells her she looks “so pretty,” which prompts a round of applause from Sofia.
Sofia might be a toddler, but we suspect she’ll be raiding her mom’s closet in no time—and talking up a storm while doing it!
