Some party tricks involve cards or magic. Sofia Scott’s involve counting—and one grandmother completely losing her composure.
Alex Drummond recently shared the sweetest little video of Sofia sitting beside her and showing off a brand-new skill. “Her newest party trick 😂🥹,” Alex wrote over the clip as her toddler proudly worked her way through a few numbers, pausing every now and then to smile at the camera. She looked quite pleased with herself, as she should!
Ree Drummond apparently was not emotionally prepared for any of it. She reposted the video to her own Instagram stories with a very simple reaction: “I am not okay.” No further explanation was necessary. Between Sofia’s tiny voice, her serious concentration, and the fact that she suddenly seems much too grown up, Ree’s three words pretty much covered it!
Counting is only the latest addition to Sofia’s rapidly expanding résumé. Earlier this year, Alex showed her practicing farm-animal sounds like “moo,” “bah-bah,” and “quack-quack,” followed by an update on some of her favorite words. Then came climbing the stairs, taking her first official steps at the ranch, walking around independently, and—most recently—figuring out how to climb onto the furniture. This girl has places to go and things to learn!
There’s another big change coming soon, too. Alex and Mauricio are expecting their baby boy in September, which means Sofia will be adding “big sister” to that résumé before long. Alex has said Sofia is already very interested in babies, so she may be ready to help teach her little brother a few things. Counting lessons included!
For now, Ree is simply trying to process how quickly her first granddaughter is becoming her own funny, chatty little person. And judging by her reaction, she may need a minute! 😂
