The older Sofia gets, the longer her hair grows, which means she has more and more opportunities to rock the cutest hairstyles! A couple months ago, Alex Drummond’s 19-month-old daughter wore her first-ever ponytail, and now that her hair is long enough to sport different styles, she’s moving onto pigtails!
To document the big moment, Alex snapped a couple photos of her little girl’s cute new ‘do and posted them to her Instagram Stories. “Did pigtails for the first time and this is the only pic I got 😂 😂 🥹,” Alex shared. While Sofia’s pink Crocs and blue-and-white gingham onesie with a smocked neckline are definitely worthy of gushing over, it’s the pigtails that obviously steal the spotlight! Sofia’s hair is parted down the middle, and her locks are pulled into two whale spouts at the top of her head. While she’s kneeling on the couch and looking at the camera, Sofia has her right arm secured behind her head like she isn’t sure what to make of the strange sensation on her scalp quite yet. 😂
“Welp and then there’s this one,” Alex said, referencing the second photo she took of Sofia’s pigtails. Even though Sofia looks absolutely darling in her new hairstyle, in her mind, comfort is key!
In the picture Alex posted, Sofia is trying to yank out one of her ponytails. You can see the determination in her little face! “Finally got the rubber ponytail elastics to make it harder for her to rip them out (but she still found a way 💀),” Alex added.
Sofia’s hair has garnered a lot of discussion in the past year or so. Last summer, when Sofia was just eight months old, Alex photographed her daughter sitting in her stroller, and in the sunlight, the top of her hair demonstrated a reddish tint, just like her grandmother (aka Ree Ree’s) Ree Drummond’s hair. “This morning was definitely giving redhead,” Alex joked. “@thepioneerwoman will jump for joy when she sees this pic.” And another eight months later, Alex snapped another sunny picture of Sofia standing on the patio, and, once again, her hair had a Ree-inspired redness!
After Sofia hit the one-year mark, her curls started coming in, and Alex quickly noticed the resemblance. “If you’re wondering where she gets her curls, this was me at age 2 🤣🤣,” Alex shared on her Instagram Story. While baby Alex’s ringlets were fuller and more pronounced than Sofia’s are now, we have a pretty good idea of what her mane will look like in a few months!
