Alex Drummond just shared the first look at her baby boy’s nursery—and when we say first look, we do mean the *very* first look. Five paint swatches. One white wall. And a dream!
With baby boy due in September and Alex now eight months pregnant, the countdown is on. Just days ago, she shared a 15-item “Before baby checklist” with every circle still unchecked. DECIDE ON NAME was at the top—in all caps, naturally—and the nursery section included clearing out the closet, painting, hanging the light fixture and drapes, and putting up artwork. Deep breaths, Alex!
Now, we have the first sign of progress. And it is precisely five rectangles of blue.
“Going crazy over here 😂😂🤪,” Alex wrote over a photo of the samples. “I’ve heard from everyone that blues are really hard and to err on the lighter side because once you paint an entire room it can look way too bright/tacky. So leaning towards one of the bottom ones (which on the swatch almost looked white but on the wall they’re looking much more blue. Crazy!)”
Paint colors are deceptive little things. A shade can look almost white on a tiny swatch, then turn unmistakably blue once it’s covering an entire room. (Possibly too blue.) So yes, consulting five nearly identical patches is a completely reasonable use of the final stretch of pregnancy.
Luckily, baby boy has already been properly celebrated with a “not their first rodeo” baby sprinkle celebration full of cowboy hats, blue ribbons, barbecue, and people who can’t wait to meet him. The nursery may still need, well, most of a nursery—but the welcome committee is fully assembled.
Alex is also organizing beyond those white walls. She shared a look at Sofia’s downstairs play area, explaining that the toys were slowly taking over the living room until a new cubby shelf restored a little order. One nursery to finish, one toddler toy collection to contain, one baby name to choose. Full nesting mode!
The nursery may be five swatches and a dream for now, but baby boy already has a house making room for him. All she has to do is choose a shade of blue. Which one would you pick?
