Alex Drummond officially made her last trip to the ranch—before baby boy arrives, that is. Don’t worry, Ree Ree!
The very temporary farewell trip kicked off a few days ago, when Alex, Mauricio, Sofia, and George packed up for a weekend in Oklahoma. Alex is eight months pregnant, and baby boy’s official due date is September 21 (which also happens to be Ree and Ladd’s wedding anniversary!), so the window for casual trips from Dallas to the ranch is getting awfully small.
But this particular visit had another purpose, too.
“We’re actually heading to the ranch because Mauricio is getting treated for his Alpha-Gal by this lady in Tulsa,” Alex explained in an Instagram story before they left. “So we’re just going to go make a little ranch weekend out of it. It’ll definitely be our last time going up there before baby comes.”
As a quick refresher, Mauricio was diagnosed with Alpha-Gal syndrome in June after experiencing severe stomach pain several times after eating red meat. Alpha-Gal is a potentially serious allergy that can develop after certain tick bites and cause reactions to mammal products, including beef and pork. Alex and Mauricio have been figuring out his new normal ever since—and we’ll have more details on how the Tulsa visit went soon!
For this story, though, there was still a ranch weekend to enjoy.
“We’re going to just kind of soak it in and have a weekend with my parents and my brothers,” Alex said. And she was particularly excited to see what Sofia would make of the place this time around. “It’s always fun to bring Sofia up to the ranch, but like it’s going to be especially fun now because she is so active and so on the move.”
Very true. The ranch has already hosted one rather important Sofia mobility event: She took her first official steps there in June, with Ree, Alex, and Paige all nearby and Ree doing a completely reasonable amount of shrieking.
So yes, it was Alex’s last ranch visit... for now. The next time she makes the trip, there may very well just be one more tiny passenger in the car!
